Welcome to Ryedale Walking Group We are a well established walking group with over 60 members based in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire. Walks are organised at least fortnightly throughout the year and we meet up at Pickering Swimming Pool at 9.00am, unless otherwise stated in the programme. Our group is affiliated to the Ramblers and our Committee is made up of seven members.
We are keen to promote car sharing or the use of public and community transport to get to the start of walks. We aim to walk at least every two weeks on either a Saturday or a Sunday. During the summer months we organise regular midweek walks of around five miles on our local rights of way. ![]() On the North York Moors at Dundale Pond on 20th Feb on a 9.75 mile walk led by Sam

(Link) The weekend walks vary between seven and thirteen miles in length. Our favoured areas are Ryedale, the North Yorkshire Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds, the Cleveland Hills and the Vale of York including the Howardian Hills AONB. Most walks take place within 35 miles of Pickering but we also travel further afield occasionally on weekend breaks. We travel north, south, east and west and enjoy the beauty of our area to the full. We think that the social side of our walking group is important so whilst on our walks we often frequent tearooms, look in churches and at anything else of architectural interest. We have also been known to frequent fish and chip shops and even pubs! New members and visitors to the area are welcome to join us anytime. We have a modest annual membership fee of £3 to cover the few expenses involved in running a walking group. Our members enjoy a 10% discount at the local walking shops shown on this website. Please read carefully and accept the Legal Policy and Constitution before you walk with us. A membership form is available here. Thank you for visiting our website to see what we are about. Please look in the Archives section to see what we have been up to, since the group formed in 2006.
