Welcome to Ryedale Walking Group
We are a well established walking group with over 50 members based in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire. Walks are organised fortnightly throughout the year and we meet up at Pickering Swimming Pool at 9.00am, unless otherwise stated in the programme.
The group is keen to promote car sharing or the use of public and community transport to get to the start of walks. We aim to walk every two weeks on either a Saturday or a Sunday. During the summer months we organise our fortnightly Pickering walks of around five miles on Thursday evenings on the rights of way around Pickering.

Our weekend walks vary between seven and thirteen miles in length and our favourite areas are Ryedale, the North Yorkshire Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds, the Cleveland Hills and the Vale of York including the Howardian Hills AONB. Most walks take place within 35 miles of Pickering but we also travel further afield occasionally on weekend breaks. We travel north, south, east and west and enjoy the beauty of our area to the full. We think that the social side of our walking group is important so whilst on our walks we often frequent tearooms, look in churches and at anything else of architectural interest. We have also been known to frequent fish and chip shops and even pubs! New members and visitors to the area are welcome to join us anytime. We are a non-profit making organisation but we ask for a small donation or modest annual sponsorship fee from our regular walkers to cover the few expenses that we have. Please read carefully and accept the legal policy before you walk with us. Thank you for visiting our website to see what we are about. Please look in the Archives section to see what we have been up to, since the group formed in 2006.
