Our little known local
regional trail is 48 miles in length and runs along the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park from Scarborough to Helmsley. The route was adopted
as a regional trail after it was initiated by the Park Authority.
Ryedale Walking Group walked the
full route in 2007 using public transport or the
Ryecat Community Minibus at the start and finish of each day's
walk. The total mileage was 69 miles including walking to and from the bus stops
on the A170 and A169. We started the walk from the Sealife Centre
at Scalby Mills on Saturday April 14th and completed the six linear legs on Saturday
8th September in Helmsley. The thumbnail pictures on the left were all taken on
the Tabular Hills Walk. Click for a bigger view.
Two books are available that describe
The Tabular Hills Walk, they are:

seven of our members. Here they are pictured on September 8th 2007 in Helmsley at the finish. Left to
right John, Jean, Nigel, Alison, Phil (Walk Leader), Judy and Dorothy. In
total thirty Group members took part in one or several of the individual walks.
One member in the photograph completed all stages of the walk whilst
recovering from cancer and receiving weekly treatments of chemotherapy. An
amazing achievement!
